Enquiries

Start a confidential enquiry

Every enquiry is read and answered by a senior adviser — usually within one working day, and the same day if you mark it urgent. Nothing you tell us is shared with any third party without your written instruction. We are not solicitors; this is independent operational guidance, not legal advice.

Helpful details: who the enquiry concerns, the establishment they are held in (if known), the sentence stage, and what you most need help with. Only share what you are comfortable with — we can fill in the rest together on a call.

What happens after you send your enquiry

1. A senior adviser reads it — personally

Enquiries are not sorted by a system or triaged by a call centre. A senior ex-Prison Service adviser reads your enquiry the same working day where possible, and responds within one working day — the same day if you marked it urgent.

2. A free, confidential discovery call

We arrange a call by your preferred method, at a time that suits you. You tell us where things stand; we tell you plainly what happens next in the system and what we would do first. No forms, no pressure, no charge.

3. A written scope, agreed before any fee

If you decide to instruct us, we confirm in writing exactly what we will do, the time it will take, and the cost — every engagement is charged at £250 per hour (ex VAT), with fixed packages available. Paid work begins only after you have agreed that scope.

4. One named adviser from start to finish

You keep the same senior adviser throughout — someone who knows your case, your establishment and your family, and who answers when you ring. Urgent matters at any stage are prioritised the same working day; call 020 8087 4832 if you can't wait for a reply.

Prefer to pick a time yourself rather than wait for a reply? Book a free discovery call directly on our bookings page. And before you write, you may find your question already answered on our FAQ page or in our free guides.

Custody Insights Consulting is an independent advisory service providing practical operational guidance based on UK prison and criminal justice experience. We prepare research-based operational shadow briefs that draw on Prison Service knowledge and publicly available historical case material (including UK National Archives records). These briefs offer practical insight into how similar cases have typically been built and challenged. They are intended solely to support instructing solicitors and do not constitute legal advice or formal legal opinion. We do not provide formal legal representation, nor do we act as regulated solicitors or barristers. For courtroom advocacy, please consult a qualified legal practitioner.
